Thanks to ARPN for their support and key data we incorporated into the book. The concept of mining the more commonly known "gateway minerals" as a way to cost-justify mining for those less common but more critical rare earths and others was eye-opening to both Ned and me. Learn more about it ASAP, because we need minerals in order to live--literally!

This is indeed important, and why Dr. Ned Mamula and I wrote Groundbreaking! America's New Quest for Mineral Independence, just released 12/1/18. The book addresses where we are today, how we got there, specific examples of how bad it has become, role models to follow in Canada and Australia, and specific recommendations for all of America to join a groundswell to start groundbreaking again. ARPN and others are starting the outreach, thank goodness, but we need concerned citizens relying on all this 21st century technology to always be available to engage, too.

There is a Vanadium Belt in Nevada that is known by Westerners that live in Nevada or California. Our Canadian neighbors have interests in the Vanadium belt and own mining interests, specifically CellCube purchased rights to shore up a supply chain for their energy storage systems using Vanadium Pentoxide in the Vanadium Redox Batteries. There is company from China that owns or purchased mineral rights to another vanadium mine in the Vanadium belt however they don't have a vertically integrated supply chain like CellCube. Finally, us Californians remember MolyCorp on Mountain Pass, Ca which went bankrupt and purchased by a China owned company. At one time MolyCorp was the globally supllier of the world's rare earths.
