Because we let ourselves be played for chumps by Muslims all over the world, we stupidly turned it into a nation-building experiment. The nations we lost included our own.

The Chinese are rapidly becoming the world’s sole superpower. They have the weapons and manpower to deal with the Taliban, and they care not a whit for “world opinion.” Let us hope that they will not squander away their superpower era as we did ours.
